London in Colour

I just uploaded some photos from my point and shoot camera and I came across these photos of the Selfridges windows I meant to post back in March. The true essence of the city's fashion industry really comes out in this display. It is colourful, creative and in a crazy mash up that truly only works in London.

Kate Moss for Topshop with a lot of hair flipping

Showstudio's new fashion film for kate moss-Topshop has Kate crawling on the floor, dancing around and flipping her hair every which way for a minute and a half. I seem to always be disapointed in the Kate Moss line when I finally see it in the shop, but there is an amazing feather piece in this film that looks amazing. Check it out here and let me know what you think!

Leave it to the Swedes-Fjallraven Kanken

I am contemplating walking to work on the days that I do not want to cycle. I desperately am looking for a nice looking backpack (or rucksack) to carry my things in so I don't get that hunched one shoulder pain.  I found a cute topshop one but for some reason this little leather version would look better worn as a one shoulder backpack Wang look.
My friend came into work with her gym bag and it was by the iconic Swedish brand Fjallraven, named Kanken circa 1974. I instantly saw this as a well crafted, cool and timeless bag that can carry your camping gear for festivals and your gym gear for, well the gym. I am planning a trip to Stockholm this summer so I am sure to pick one of these up, but there are soo many colours to choose from! What colour do you think I should buy?

Artsy Fartsy Weekend

It is already Wednesday and I haven't yet written about my tour of contemporary art on Saturday with a bird art/music installation and some unbelievable dancing.

First stop, the Barbican. An avairy filled with little zebra finches hang out and play musical instruments by simply landing on them. It was wierdly beautiful and peaceful but I can't really explain why?
By French artist CĂ©leste Boursier-Mougenot.
P.S. It's free!

Second stop, Sadler's Wells. Contemporary dance at it's most beautiful and wierdest. Dancers en pointe use crutches, harnesses and rope to move their body in crazy ways I have never seen before. It was seriously magical. See a clip here

Showstudio + Topshop + Make up

I actually try to avoid going to Topshop at lunch (yes, I am five minutes away from the Oxford Circus location, trust me, it's not healthy to be so close), becuase I will ALWAYS find something to buy. So my visits are now limited to the week of pay day.

Today, I went by to check out their new make up line which launched this week. Their colours are unique, with bronzy finishes in their nail polish and eye sticks, but what I love most is the packaging! The matte finish containers are decorated with hand drawn charcoal circles and dots. It looks really fresh and I think it will be a hit.

So, I bet you are wondering what Showstudio has to do with Topshop make up. Well, Showstudio and Topshop have collaborated on the make up launch. Showstudio has set up a wall to ceiling mirror that comments on your look. Yes, like in Snow White. So, you stand in front of this mirror and a minute later written on the top is a comment from an industry proffesional. Designer Louise Goldin, Lady Gaga's sylist Nicola Formichetti and make up artist Hannah Murray all are contributing to the comments. You can see the comments being made over at Showstudio.

There was no way I was going to stand in front of this massive mirror though, it was a bit intimidating. Here is a photo of the mirror from the showstudio blog:

Dover street market sample sale: Who is Rodnik?

Walking down to the DSM sale today I passed this run down building with some stylish wall art. This is what I love about London sample sales, you always have to trek to some unknown warehouse down some deserted sketchy streets to turn the corner and come upon a fashionable queue:

Who is Rodnik?

I bought this dress at the sale today, originally £500 for £100, amazing deal. I had never heard of the name but I love the print and the soft twill material so I thought I would buy it and look up the name later. I found two things about Rodnik, they are also a pop band and they were once named the "Victor and Rolf of England".  The name is now known as The Rodnik Band.

The Sunnies of the Season by James Long

These amazing sunglasses by London designer James Long for Fabris Lane are right on trend and so cool it hurts.

Brick Lane, London -first instalment

These are just a couple shots of Brick Lane this year, I hope to have more to come. There are so many creative people and exciting things to see here, the people watching is fantastic.
